At a programe held in Batticaloa focusing on Social Media Declaration (SMD) – human rights, the Online Safety Act (OSA), and global digital trends in the digital world, (Hon;)Members of Parliament from the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) — R. Sanakkiyan, G. Srinesan, and Dr. I. Srinath — together with K. Prabu, MP from the National People’s Power (NPP), were presented with the second edition of the Social Media Declaration (SMD).

All participating MPs expressed positive feedback on the initiative.

The workshop was attended by around 40 participants, including representatives of civil society organizations, journalists, and university students from the Batticaloa District.

The event was coordinated by the Eastern Province Journalists’ Association, a partner organization of the Social Media Declaration, and was facilitated by Duminda Sampath, President of the Sri Lanka Working Journalists’ Association (SLWJA), and Sampath Samarakoon, Researcher at the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA).
